The self-improvement
market is worth 9.6 billion dollars, according to a report by research firm, Marketdata. Infomercials and life coaching makes up the biggest share. At the beginning of the 21st century, the self-improvement industry, including books, seminars, audio and video products and life coaching, is worth an estimated 2.48 billion dollars per year in the United States alone. The industry also includes infomercials, mail-order catalogs, weight loss and stress management programs, and personal coaching.
Marketdata projected that the total market size grew to over $11 billion by 2008. The trend seems to continue upwards, with global figures echoing American leadership, in spite of the Global Crunch.
